The Way You Make Me Feel

The Way You Make Me Feel

Yesterday, as people all over the country gathered around their television sets to watch the Michael Jackson memorial, jocks from the twittersphere came together to tweet tribute to King of Pop.

Baron Davis, apparently a huge fan, was among the most active of all the twitterers:

R.I.P To the greatest entertainer ever! I'm rocking a glove to every NBA game in honor of MIKE! Needs my fans to wear one also! Luv u mj!!!

Later in the day, he follows up with:

My girl is crying right now :-( her favorite song is Man in the Mirror. Playing it now!!!!

(Note to Baron: Next time your girlfriend is crying, wait until she's recovered before you tweet about it.  Even if you are going to use a sympathetic frowny face.)

Baron continues to tweet throughout the service. For just a few examples:

Heal the world! Mj is/was a musical prophet! We can all learn from his music! Its universal language! Luv u MJ

Jermaine jackson was AWESOME! This is so sad but so uplifting! Mike impact will never really be appreciated until he is long gone!! Mj is #1

Amen! Let us all be inspired and spread goodwill and well being to our earth and fellow man! 100mil people tuned in.it starts today w/ us!!!

Prayers to the family! They raised a angel of the world. Let his words sink in! God bless the WORLD!! Signing off from INDIA!!

Chris Bosh also took some time out of his day to pay his respects to MJ:

Stopped in front of the TV at the gym, watching MJ's memorial...whats your best MJ memory?

Chris collected responses throughout the day, retweeting the ones that he deemed to be the best.  Among those to respond was the ubiquitous Baron Davis.  That guy's just everywhere. Baron's response to Chris, retweeted:

recording we are the world, watch the making of it! Crazy!! whats your best MJ memory?

Chris tweets back in kind:

got to see that, my fav MJ moment is probably first time I saw the moonwalk! It was so smooth, so seamless...

So seamless indeed.

Nick Barnett, apparently either not a subscriber of either of these twitter feeds, tweets about midway through the memorial:

Is any watching the mj thing??

He follows up by saying:

A legend!! He will be missed. There will never be another!!!

Meanwhile, Tasha Danvers, a favorite of ours, was apparently unaware that any of this was going on.  She gives her tweeps a tweetin' to for failing to keep her in the loop:

HEY WHY DIDN'T ANYONE TELL ME THE MICHAEL JACKSON MEMORIAL LIVE FROM LA HAD STARTED (NAUGHTY FRIENDS) :( I'M HERE WATCHIN FLIPPIN JUDGE JUDY.

Then, of course, there are those who cover their sorrow with laughter. Take, for example, Marcus Williams:

Michael Jackson was hot and all that but none of his performances was better than Jim Jones at summer jam.

He follows up with several tweets of the same nature:

So u mean to tell me Dipset aint better than Jackson 5?

Mike Jackson is the Jim Jones of Pop

Yall don't want me to bring up soulja boy!! Who was hotter at 19(pause)..mike or soulja boy? Think b4 u answer now.

But he kids because he loves:

Ok guys, u got me. It was all a joke! Shesshh.

Finally, he concludes by tweeting:

Mike Jackson was a BEAST!! Forreal now, everything seems classic.

Yes it does, Marcus. Yes it does.
