In Donovan McNabb's most recent blog entry, he reflects on the death of Michael Jackson, writing:
Like most of the rest of the world I am devastated by the news of Michael Jackson's death.
However, unlike most of the rest of the world, Donovan is fairly well-known for having appropriated Michael Jackson's signature dance move over the years:
Those who have followed my career know that I am a huge fan of the King of Pop. After many of my touchdowns, I have moonwalked or mimicked some of his moves -- before you get ready to criticize those moves on a post, know that even I understand I couldn't hold a candle to Michael when it comes to dancing. My dances were a mere tribute to Michael's unbelievable ability to entertain.
True, Donovan shouldn't exactly quit his day job, but he's got some game.
Still, there's game, and there's Jackson -- a world of difference. Those of you who remember MJ's epic music videos know exactly what Donovan is talking about. (This was back when music videos were still really music videos -- uphill both ways, and so much better than they are today.)
You remember, right? Epic.
Donovan adds:
Many times we are reminded at someone's death that "there will never be another one like him/her." In this case, those words couldn't be more true.
MJ may have given Donovan the moonwalk, but Donovan gave MJ a thoughtful and fitting tribute in return.
Plus, as previously mentioned, he did also give us his version of the moonwalk.
