Could Chad Ochocinco be joining Landon Donovan in the MLS soon? The disgruntled receiver, upset over the NFL lockout, has decided to take his talents to the MLS, and is currently trying out for Sporting Kansas City, a publicity-hungry team.
Ocho has flirted with soccer before, and has professed his love for the sport time and time again. He played a lot growing up, but gave it up to focus on American football (the real football). He even kicked an extra point in a preseason game last season:
But that certainly hasn't tempered his excitement with his new potential job. As he tweets:
Superb day on the pitch,I'm gonna be in phenomenal shape once football rolls back around,my feet were awesome b4 they gone b like WTF now!!!
I wish you all can see the skill it takes to play FUTBOL,even with my speed these guys still make me look like shit on the pitch #seriously
Speed is nothing without control, let the ball do the breathing#TheBeautifulGame
Just as Einstein put it.
Taking the entire team to Fogo De Chao tonight,I'm the rookie in a sense so this should be fun, what are y'all doing?
Next Ocho will have to sing the Oregon State fight song....
Man I think this cat @ochocinco is a clown. Bruh soccer seriously, sit down an wait for this lockout to b over and play what u no best.
....and boom goes the dynamite. I applaud Ocho for trying out, and again having fun, but we all know that this is nothing more than a publicity stunt by the team and wide receiver. And if you're the MLS, while it would be great to have Ocho, doesn't it say a lot that Ocho- who hasn't played soccer since his teens- has an actual chance to make this team. That would be like me getting a tryout with the Knicks... oh wait.
Still, Ocho is talking back to the naysayers:
You always expect the negative to come from the outside but it's sad as f_ck when it comes from within, thats some funny sh_t!!!
