7:32 remaining: Duke 64, Michigan 54
After watching #1 seed Pittsburgh lose to a Butler team that seems to always have a glass slipper on, Duke is playing a Michigan team that won’t go away. Former Wolverine and Jets Wide Receiver Braylon Edwards tweets:
Let's Go! Were WOLVERINES we don't quit! #GoBLUE
And Steelers’ LB and former Wolverine Lamarr Woodley tweets:
Down 8 with 7 min to go.. Can michigan come back??
Yet two more former Michigan football players have something to say about the game as Arizona Cardinals teammates Jay Feely and Steve Breaston are on Twitter.
Feely tweets:
Duke built a 15 point lead but Michigan is fighting back, down 8. I like the fight but don't think they have the horses yet to sustain
Breaston responds:
This is a time to for u to be bias jay RT @jayfeely: Michigan is fighting back, down 8. I like the fight but don't think they have...
However, Kansas City Chiefs DB Brandon Carr has other thoughts about the game, and he is certainly making them public as he rampantly tweets throughout the game:
The southwest and southeast sides of my bracket are #dead. If Duke losses I'm #dead as well!
Then after Duke guard crossed-over Michigan guard Tim Hardaway Jr. Carr tweeted again:
Damn he Hardaway'd his ass! Pun intended
And Rockets SF Terrence Williams tweeted about the same move:
Nolan smith with the hardaway cross over #ouch
But back to the actively tweeting Brandon Carr who tweets:
That boy Nolan #heatingUP
.....and here comes the rout
Then a 7-0 Michigan run occurs and Carr tweets again:
This is shaping up to be a good game.
UPDATE: 1:18 remaining Duke 70, Michigan 69 – Duke commits shot clock violation facing the pressure of Michigan’s halfcourt 1-3-1 zone and Tim Hardaway Jr. hits a 3-pointer.
And who other than Brandon Carr tweets:
Folks, we have ourselves a freakin BALL GAME!!! Yessir!
And Braylon Edwards tweets again:
What A Play Lil Tim!!!!! #LetsGoBlue
Ravens Wide Receiver Donte' Stallworth tweets:
I see you Hardaway Jr. #Wolverines ... Uh oh #Duke fans!! We've got a great one on our hands!!!
Lakers Forward Lamar Odom is tuned in too, he tweets:
Who's watching this Duke and Michigan game? Down to the wire...
Jay Feely is at it again:
Down 1 after two huge 3's!!! Go Blue!!
UPDATE: 8.7 seconds remaining: Duke 73, Michigan 71
FINAL: Duke wins 73-71 in a crazy second half.
The Cardinals teammates are both disappointed as Feely and Breaston tweet respectively:
Great effort by the Wolverines. Shot to tie or win at the buzzer, couldn't ask for more than that, except maybe to you know make the shot!
Damn
But these two are not the only Michigan men who tuned in for the game. Linebacker Dhani Jones tweets:
Great run by @Michigan_mbball. That effort should make any Michigan Man proud. Young team...they'll be back next year! #GoBlue
Former Michigan football star Desmond Howard tweets:
He was, but u won't get that call v.Duke RT @ericdavidsonsrq: @desmond_howard i thought novack was fouled getting rebound at other end
And perhaps Lamarr Woodley is a little bitter when tweets again:
Duke wont get passed the winner of this texas/arizona game
Well, only time will tell if Duke will get past the Sweet 16, but one thing is for sure, former Michigan athletes certainly show pride in their Wolverines.
