THE NFL WILL PLAY NEXT YEAR IF STEVE SLATON AND OCHOCINCO HAVE ANYTHING TO SAY ABOUT IT

With Super Bowl XLV in the rear view mirror and the Packers now reigning as NFL champs, the league has shifted into offseason mode, continuing the never-ending promotional cycle that is the modern NFL.  This offseason though, the league is facing serious issues, as Seahawks LB Anthony Heygood is finding out:

Man went to sleep to early now I just woke up at 1 and can't find my damn remote

This makes me wanna kick somebodies dog

For real, if Anthony Heygood doesn’t find his remote soon, he’ll have no choice but to start kicking canines.  Not necessarily his dog, but somebody’s pets somewhere are gonna pay a price.  Packers OT Bryan Bulaga tweeted this this morning:

The new puppy arrives today around noon. I enjoyed my last full night of sleep for a while. But how can you be mad at a puppy haha?

Bryan better keep an eye out because if Anthony’s remote is missing, all consideration of the cuteness of puppies goes out the window.

But this morning Falcons LB Sean Weatherspoon raises another important issue:

Please let's get this labor issue taken care of!!!"can't take my football away from me" Boobie Myles voice lol #Keanureevesreplacesbrady hah

With the league’s owners having opted out of the CBA with the players, and with negotiations reportedly going nowhere, Keanu Reeves taking the field, a la The Replacements, may not be impossible in the near future.  It might actually make the Patriots slightly more likeable for everyone who doesn’t eat “chowdah with jimmies at the bah.” (Try translating that into English folks at home).

Panthers WR David Clowney has a more serious take on the issue:

Me and @santonio10 going RT @VernonDavis85: I hope this lock out fails because I would like to go to Africa with @VontaeDavis21 and others!

This lockout can’t happen!  Vontae, Vernon, Santonio and David’s trip to Africa depends on it!  THEY WERE PLANNING ON SEEING THE COLOBUS MONKEYS IN THE CONGO!

In the unusual headline of the day, Chad Ochocinco expressed a thought on the issue that was not only sane, but even…wise:

As players and owners we need to remember The Fans are the bread n butter of the NFL or any sport for that matter.

Indeed.  Texans WR Steve Slaton is taking action to resolve the situation.  This morning he retweeted:

.@Steve20Slaton #LockoutWatch at 20 days. Rep your #20 + #BlockTheLockout by getting your fans to sign the petition @ www.nfllockout.com

If you want to see NFL action next season, you might want to head over there.  Let’s just hope the owners and players put aside the billions of dollars at stake for the fans.  Its gonna be a long summer of baseball.  Sigh.
