Mike Bacsik is not your household name. Though he has the greatest first name in the world (thank you very much), little else is known about the former MLB pitcher. Until a few days ago, he was famous- or infamous- depending on who you ask, for one brief moment:
To put it lightly, they weren't exactly cheering for Bacsik there. Don't think he made many more friends with his recent Twitter post.
Congrats to all the dirty mexicans in san antonio.
Say whah? Now, just not to take this out of context, Bacsik was discussing the Mavericks-Spurs game. He's a Mavericks fan, and not a happy one. No- not this guy.
But Bacsik's day wasn't done. He quickly deleted the post, filling it in with:
I'm sorry for all my tweets. I'm not going to kill myself.
Can I change it to congrats to all the clean upstanding citizens of S.A. U deserve the win. The refs called the game so fair.
I know many of you are checking out his Twitter, looking for these posts. Of course, they were all taken down. But to prove I didn't make it up, Bacsik even apologized today.
I'm sorry for my horribly insensitive tweet last night about the Hispanic comm. in San Antonio. I apologize and I hope u can forgive me.
First off, Bacsik played a sport wildly popular in Hispanic countries and in the Hispanic community. Many fans of baseball are Hispanic, meaning the people supporting the contracts of Bacsik weren't looked upon too highly by him. I would think if any athlete were to be racist against Hispanics (not that any athlete should be), baseball players would be last on the list.
I mean the fact that he said "The refs called the game so fair," is so eighth-grade. I mean I can vividly remember saying the same thing after my team lost a rec basketball game. So good job resorting to middle-school arguments.
He apologized, and based off his general lack of controversy in MLB and ALL his Twitter posts before (all sports related- usually NBA or Texas Rangers baseball), it was a really dumb thing to say, and that's it. I'm not trying to excuse him, because what he said was very hurtful, but I think we should chalk it up to foot-in-ass syndrome, you know, something this guy has suffered from a lot. Besides, any real man can respect his view on life.
I haven't moved for a hour. Just sulking and feeling sorry for myself. Why can't I just watch sports and not live and die by it? Still sick
But something tells us, this story may not be over in just a couple of tweets.
