BLADES OF GLORY

BLADES OF GLORY

Male figure skaters aren’t exactly a symbol of manliness to most kids. In fact, they might be better known for their effeminate costumes than their athleticism. Thanks to a bunch of fourth-graders, Olympic figure skater Evan Bates now knows this too.

Bates received good-luck letters from a fourth grade class and tweeted a few quotes.

"Figure skating isn't my favorite sport, but it's cool. I'm more into football not that I'm saying skating is wimpy. Football has to do with tackling and running. Figure skating is hard too, but I dislike skating. Snowboarding is the coolest." Sincerely, Josh

Can’t fault him for his honesty.

"I always thought skating was girly until I saw some videos. Wow! You guys can skate. Even tho I'm not into that stuff. I'm into motocross.

Those fourth-grade bullies really got to him. According to fellow figure skater Tanith Belbin, Bates has new dreams in other (more manly) sports.
