Since the season ended for the Cleveland Browns (Like, actually ended. Not to be confused with week one when they didn't know who would start at quarterback) there has been some speculation about return specialist / wide receiver Josh Cribbs' future with the team. To explain the situation Cribbs has taken to twitter.
Thanks everyone, I love playing for the browns & put my all in to it, but it doesn't look good 4me at this point on returning...
I don't believe I made the to do list for the team in 2010....
Cribbs, who is arguably Cleveland's most popular and best player, is trying to renegotiate his current contract where he's payed the league base salary of $900,000 year. Bear in mind that being the best player for the Browns is like winning a hot dog eating contest against super models with their jaws wired shut. There's not much real competition.
I'm sorry to all the fans that u have to endore this, but I now see that this is business for them and loyalty means nothing & wait 4 what?
How sweet of Mr. Cribbs to feel for the fans that have to "endore" this. How about apologizing, or better yet thanking fans for enduring a 1-11 start this season. I'm guessing that bothers fans more than the fact that you're only getting 180,000 per touchdown. (5 Td's this year. 3 return, 1 receiving, 1 rushing)
Josh takes the time to sum up why he deserves more money.
I'm sorry guys i don't want to seem greedy but fair is fair & there is no way around it, i'm the best at what I do but paid the lowest. Hmmm
As far as kick and punt returners go this is true. But as far as receiving stats go he's well below any average.
Thank goodness athletes have agents to handle situations like this. From what I can tell Cribbs has the best in the business.
It's now time for me to let go & Let God. I've said all I needed to now I give it to him who is above all, the real Boss in charge of salary
I can just hear a receptionist now: "Mr. Lerner, there's a God on line 1 wanting to negotiate Josh Cribbs' contract"
