THE WEEKLY JOCK-SCRAP: FAMILY (11-13-09)

Welcome to THE WEEKLY JOCK-SCRAP, a collection of pics and videos from around TheJockosphere: the best-of-the-best, the strangest-of-the-strange (and sometimes the worst-of-the-worst) to create a weekly "Jock Scrapbook" bits and pieces that your favorite (and not-so-favorite) athletes shared throughout the week.

It's easy to forget that athletes are people just like the rest of us (albeit with more money and in better physical condition). This week's Jock-Scrap is a reminder that these athletes we love and hate, and love to hate, are also part of a family.

Superstar athlete parents are no exception to the general rule that parents love to show off pictures of their children.

Devin Hester, of the Chicago Bears, shows off his son who was born Monday Lance Armstrong's son, Max, makes a few appearances a week on twitter also.  He even has his own twitter account already. (@MaxArmstrong1)

The pictures don't stop once the diapers come off though. Football players, race car drivers, and tough guy MMA fighters are all proud parents and love to show off their kids.

It's important to remember that these athletes have a background.  They have parents, started the passion for their sport somewhere, and carry a little bit of baggage, as Tony Hawk reminds us.

Just because we know these people from the sport they play, it doesn't mean that they don't have other passions.  Take for example John Daly who is stepping off the golf course and into the recording studio.

So there ya have it.  A nice reminder that many of the famous athletes we see on TV and draft on our fantasy teams aren't that much different than all of us.  We all have Louis Vuitton laptop holders (Eric Wright), get happy birthday written to them in a buildings lights (Lamar Odom),  and hang out with Playboy Playmates who skateboard in high heels (Tony Hawk).

Kevin Slowey's blog about his drive from Pittsburgh to San Diego is where the title picture came from.  In case anyone was wondering.

If you spot something that we should Jock-Scrap, please send it to me at: Dan@TheJockosphere.com (and if your submission is included, we'll send you our thanks — and we can both wish I could send you something cool like an iPod, instead).
