Kareem Fights Cancer

Most likely you've heard about Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and his bout with cancer.  Luckily, Kareem, caught it early enough that he has a great chance to fight it.  It's another sign of the times that even Kareem, infamous for being a private person, is sharing his story via Twitter:

One can't help thinking how pivotal Lance Armstrong's public fight against cancer has been not only in raising awareness but also in making it easier for even the most private athletes to join the public fight against cancer and other diseases.

Apparently Kareem was diagnosed a year ago and has been fighting through it like the champion he is.

I know alot of you are concerned for me and I want to assure I intend to stay healthy and fight this and that I am in remission.
