It's not a good time to be a Cleveland Brown. Not that there has ever really been a good time. The Browns don't have haven't named a starting QB (again), coaches are getting fined for not filling out injury reports, players are getting fined $1701 for taking a $3 bottle of hotel water, there are locker room fights, and to top it all off, the Browns' offense (a term that I use loosely) has only scored 1 touchdown through 3 games. Thankfully, Abe Elam is out to set the record straight on some of these issues with his latest blog post entitled "Misinformation."
I want to clear up some misinformation that has come out in the press the last couple weeks.
First of all, I was not fined for taking a bottle of water. That’s just ridiculous. I don’t even know why anyone would write that.
Could people have possibly wrote it because it's true? I know its a stretch but it seems kind of likely. Especially now that a grievance has been filed with the NFLPA? So we can't say for sure that it was Abe that was fined, but we do know that someone was, and that they don't like it. (Not that I blame them)
The next issue that Abe "clears up" is the rumors of a locker room fight.
Second, Coye Francies never threw a punch at me in the locker room. He did dump some ice on Brandon McDonald, and then he came after me at my locker with a bucket of ice. But there were no punches thrown. How could he throw a punch at me while he’s holding a bucket of ice?
Good point Abe. How could he throw a punch while holding a bucket of ice? Hmmmmm. For that matter how could he drive, eat, or double his tackle totals by getting ONE more? I guess he COULD put the bucket down, right? But have you ever tried to put down a bucket of ice, or even carry it with one hand? Not...Gonna...Happen.
The good news is that Abe remains, publicly, upbeat about the Browns.
We have the talent on this team to win games and be successful, we just have to clean up some minor things and continue to improve. The margin for error is so slim in the NFL, with a few things done differently, we could have a better record.
Abe is very right. All it takes is a few things. Like not giving up the most points per game, or being the second lowest scoring team in the league. I'm betting by changing those two little things this would be a completely different team.
Until the team starts doing those little things though I recommend this being the only Cleveland Brown you watch on Sundays
