First we watched Stephon Marbury have a nervous breakdown, live on the web. Now, Michael Beasley, the Miami Heat's second-year player and last year's #2 overall pick in the 2008 NBA draft has tweeted his thoughts of frustration — and quite possibly depression — along with a photo of himself posing with what many people think are a couple of bags of mary jane. And the result is trip to a Houston rehab.
"Y do I feel like the whole world is against me...I can't win for losin"
"Feelin like it's not worth livin!!!!!!! I'm done"

Since before the 2008 draft, players and others in and around the league have talked about Beasley's marijuana use and persistent signs of mental immaturity.
In light of this weekend's events, one person whose company worked with Beasley last year, and was subject to his inconsistent behavior, told me: "He's got a terrific personality, but he is very immature. With that combination, he's well on his way to becoming a great reality show contestant."
Reading those tweets, and looking at that picture: It's hard to look at Beasley's behavior as anything but a desire to be caught and a cry for help.
In the Houston Rehab center, Beasley apparently will be under the guidance of John Lucas. Lucas was one of the world's great (and most intriguing) athletes in the 1970s and '80s, before he tossed away a chunk of his playing career to drugs and alcohol. Since getting straight, Lucas has devoted most of his life to straightening out others (and sometimes coaching in the NBA). Now, Lucas has practically received a DM tweet from Beasley.
Another first for athletes and social-media.
