Favre (and Farve) Return… NFL Players Say What?

Favre (and Farve) Return… NFL Players Say What?

Well the old man is back...again.  After avoiding the first two weeks of brutal two-a-days, Brett Favre has finished plowing fields, mending fences, packing his Wranglers, and decided that yesterday would be a good day to find a team to play for this year.

Much like recent explosion of athletes tweeting on the Michael Vick signing, yesterday the twitterverse saw saw flood of tweets about some guy named Brett Farve (Yes... it appears that many people using twitter can't spell FAVRE, including Jermichael Finley, Shawne Merriman, and ex teammate Chansi Stuckey).  Of course we also got a great collection of quotes from athletes from a wide variety of sports and teams an on the situation.

The Favre rumors had been floating around for a while, but on Monday began to be too much current for some Minnesota VikingsBernard Berrian, and Sidney Rice both struck back against the flood of questions they were receiving through twitter.

Rice tires of the questions first:

I'm not sure what's goin on with the Favre situation, all I kno is The Vikes are in training camp! Not interested n speculation.

A little later Berrian chimes in with the same type of message

OKAY ppl I DON'T KNOW bout Brett!! FINAL ANSWER!!

Once the news officially broke on Tuesday though, the tweets from athletes were as different as the accomplishments of Brett Favre and Tarvaris Jackson.

Domonique Foxworth has an interesting take on what the NFL is becoming with all of its drama lately:

The NFL is crazier that a daytime soap. Brett is back so much drama. I do feel for the guys that have been in camp working hard

Sheldon Williams finds the whole situation funny. Haha funny actually.

haha brett favre just wont retire fully haha he is back in action guess he wanted to wait til training camp was almost over to come back

Keith Bulluck poses a fun question in this double fail tweet where not only does he misspell Favre, he also uses the name of the wrong "Booty" brother

How much do y'all think Josh David Booty (wears #4 now 4 the Vikes) is gonna make Farve give him 2 wear #4? Hmmm...lol

Matthew Hasselbeck thinks that Favre's decision goes beyond football and tells us why the ol' QB is a good fit Minnesota.

Top5 reasons Brett likes Minnesota: 1.Running game 2.Coaching staff 3.Defense 4.Fishing 5.Deer Hunting #nfl

While Lendale White knows the real reason:

packer fans dnt be mad at brett..all u gotta do is pay em and play em

But once the initial excitement wore off, things quieted down it really comes back what some of Favre's new teammates think.  Visanthe Shiancoe had the following to say

Great pract today! Favre was definitely the "pink elephant" on the field. The aura of the team was incredible! You could feel the potential

While it doesn't seem that Sidney Rice was quite as excited but still said what he needed to

I don't feel a certain way about the Farve situation. It is what it is, he's a part of us now and we welcome him with open arms.

Perhaps the best quote on the situation comes from the always outspoken Ochocinco:

Retiring and coming back is my new celebration, the only thing I can do and not get fined for!!!! After every touchdown I'm calling it quits
