“For the 10 years I was in Philadelphia, Harry was the only member of the media ever allowed to ride on the players’ bus. He was in the truest sense of the meaning, one of us.”

With the passing of Nick Ardenhard and Mark Fidrych, it’s been a tough week for baseball.
People remember Fidrych as a flake, but those who got to meet him remember him as being an incredibly honest person — honest about his thoughts and his feelings. As Mark himself said, reflecting on his “Big Bird” career, the writers who met him quickly came to the conflusion that “We got someone different here.”
