Some people are just better in sound bytes.
Derek Jeter is one of them.
Yesterday, Derek Jeter gave us another yawn of an entry in his infrequently updated blog -- one of a series of big name athlete blogs that appear on the Weplay website including Peyton Manning, LeBron James, Jennie Finch, and Ryan Howard. (97% of them filled with promotional messages, rather than anything of interest - which is why we like to say around here: "We read 'em, so you don't have to.")
Of course, all these athletes have a stake in Weplay and would naturally want to endorse the company, but Jeter's compulsive need to mention it in every entry is sort of tiresome.
It's also classic Jeter -- always saying the right thing. Never revealing too much.
Any line in any given entry of Jeter's blog would work great as a response in a press conference, but there's no media in the room. And strung together, it just sort of makes us want to pull an Oedipus. (We mean the eye thing, not the mother-son thing.)
